About

I am a husband to my amazing wife for 22 years and a father to my remarkable daughter. I love to cook for my family and take care of a small garden growing food and flowers. I like to make things, from furniture and art, to cheese and whittled spoons. I have a slight addiction to music and like to see live music when I have a chance. I am generally a curious person that loves learning as much as I can about all sorts things.

I grew up in Lancaster, PA in the middle of idyllic Amish country. I was lucky enough to play college football at Fordham University where I studied Psychology. Along the way my curiosity led me to culinary school, several different careers, business ownership, all while trying to learn what I could from the world.

I have always had a desire to write. Putting words down on paper allowed me to express my thoughts in a clearer and more creative manner. Every time I would go to say the things I thought in my head it came out sideways and incoherent. I would get captured by the emotions of the moment and never convey what it was I really wanted to say.

Being the father of a teen daughter I had plenty of insights I wanted to provide to her but getting a teen to listen to my rambling thoughts wasn’t going to happen. I decided, at that time, to start a shared journal that allowed us to post our thoughts and ideas with each other. That is what brought me here. To begin to share my thoughts and ideas with others. Maybe something I write resonates or is helpful for someone, but more than anything I wanted to push myself to share. To overcome the emotional wall that often keeps us from reaching beyond what we feel comfortable doing. This is an exercise in overcoming fears and apprehensions.
